Why do you have only a small number Google reviews?
Google requires client’s names to be attached to reviews, not everyone, for both personal and safety reasons, wants their name published on the internet. I work with people in medical treatment and also trans-people. I take safety and confidentiality seriously.
Google penalizes listings / businesses which do not have consistent and new reviews by ranking a business lower in search results. My focus is to support clients and continuing to learn skills to do so, not to spend my brain resources on constantly changing algorithms.
What type of bathroom does your building have?
It’s a gender neutral restroom - a single room containing a sink and toilet.
Is there a weight limit on your massage table?
The maximum weight is 375 pounds.
Will you see clients in their homes?
I only work with clients at my office.
Why did you become a massage therapist?
In 2010 a friend was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. No one would give her a massage. NO ONE! I was working in corporate cubicle culture during the day in Baltimore, MD and started attending evening classes at a nearby massage school to see what I could learn to support my friend. The economy tanked, I was laid off from my day job and the rest is history. I am deeply passionate about massage, Rosen Method and holding space for others.
My business LLC, Malaika Massage Therapy is named after my three friends who journeyed with cancer. Maddie, Linda and Kathy. Malaika is also a Swahili word for angel.
