Massage Therapy for Breast Cancer Support and Recovery
Massage therapy for breast cancer considers all facets of oncology massage - where are you within treatment, or how long has it been since you were in treatment? And what support do you and your body want / need from the massage session.
Further considerations include - chemotherapy, radiation, surgery sites, ports, scar tissue, medications (hormone blockers), reconstruction, no reconstruction, implants, DIEP Flap, TRAM flat, expanders, prophylactic treatment, metastatic management or awaiting a revision.
Your session is a therapeutic massage with adjustments to position, pressure, and techniques that make it safe and effective for people with a breast cancer diagnosis or history. Everything is considered.
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)
I’m also trained and experienced in manual lymph drainage (MLD) for those who’ve experienced sentinel node biopsies (SLNB) and lymph node removal (ALND), and those who are at risk of lymphedema or have managed lymphedema.
Office Setting
My office is described as a place of retreat and zen in the midst of treatment.
No smells of lavender or a deluge of the color pink.
A soft, well padded massage table to support your comfort, with plenty of support pillows and cushions.
It’s also completely normal and understandable if you are nervous to receive a session, as your body has endured a lot with treatment. I work with where your body is at, there’s no ‘deep tissue to get the knots out’, there is meeting your body and nervous system with calm and the invitation to relax.
